Dutch/Surinamese singer-songwriter néomí makes a striking return with her first release on Nettwerk, the introspective and emotionally charged “Do You Want To Be Honest?” A song that captures the struggle of finding clarity in relationships, it marks a bold new era for néomí, one that blends raw lyricism with the lush textures of indie-folk and contemporary pop.

“This song is about trying to find middle/solid ground when you can’t control the movements and actions of the people/world around you. When I was writing it, I was fed up with guessing what everybody says or thinks, and in this instance, one specific person. We were making excuses, trying not to be friends, and stopping me from finding a solid base from which to rebuild. It feels difficult sometimes when things don’t end the way you thought they should, when it hasn’t felt like a proper or honest goodbye. Over time, we did manage to find distance, but even now, there are the occasional tremors instead of an earthquake.”néomí

With a delicate yet deeply resonant vocal delivery, néomí transforms personal reflections into universal truths. The track’s understated production allows the emotional weight of her words to take centre stage, drawing comparisons to Phoebe Bridgers, Julia Jacklin, and Ben Howard, while showcasing a sound that is distinctly her own.

Following the release of her debut album ‘somebody’s daughter’ in 2024 which recently won the Edison Pop Award for best ‘Alternative’ album 2024, néomí steps into a fresh creative chapter with Nettwerk in 2025. These coming months will see her balance the raw intimacy of her folk influences with a more expansive, full-band approach, as she explores themes of self-acceptance, change, and resilience.

Born and raised in Zwijndrecht, Netherlands, néomí has always drawn inspiration from the simplicity and stillness of her surroundings. Her songwriting is a reflection of life’s contradictions—the struggle between wanting control and learning to let go, between nostalgia and moving forward. With her upcoming music, she invites listeners into a deeply personal sonic world.

Since her breakout EPs ‘before’ (2022) and ‘after’ (2023), néomí has built a reputation for her soul-baring storytelling and intimate, cinematic soundscapes. Having grown a dedicated following across Europe, her signing with Nettwerk signals an exciting new phase—one that will see her music reaching even wider audiences while staying true to the emotional depth that defines her artistry.

With “Do You Want To Be Honest?” néomí sets the tone for what’s to come as she explores delicate strength, unflinching honesty, and a new creative freedom.
