Having recently teamed up with UK alt rock band Nothing But Thieves to deliver a driven and anthemic rework of his powerful track ‘Alone’, Rag’n’Bone Man has now reached out to US hip-hop producer and rapper 9th Wonder to create another vibrant version of his recent offering.

While the Nothing But Thieves rendition of the song saw it take a harder and more robust direction throughout, this new take on ‘Alone’ sees 9th Wonder inject his own smooth and laid-back sound, creating a more humbled and groove-filled texture. With Rag’n’Bone Man’s original hook laying the foundations, 9th Wonder builds this bright and soaring new feeling around it, flipping the original sound on its head.

Known for his flair for rich and soulful hip-hop productions, US producer and artist 9th Wonder has been a staple of the scene for the last two decades. Working with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, J. Cole, Jay-Z and countless others, he first gained notoriety for his production of Drake’s sophomore album ‘Take Care’. In 2020, he released his tenth studio album ‘Zion V’, and formed the supergroup Dinner Party alongside Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin, and Kamasi Washington, releasing their self-titled debut album in the same year.

Speaking about their collaboration, 9th Wonder said, “Remixes are always an inviting challenge, because you want to keep the essence of the artist and the song, and still make sure you give the song a new life. I was very excited at the chance to do that for such an amazing artist like Rag'n'Bone Man, because his voice is so timeless… I think we covered all of our bases on this one, while adding an extra surprise with my artist Reuben Vincent.”

While Rag’n’Bone Man added, "9th Wonder has been a producer hero of mine since I was a teenager. I’m honoured that he wanted to remix ‘Alone’. A proper pinch yourself moment for me! Also special thanks to Reuben Vincent on the feature."

‘Alone’ was originally written after conversations with a friend who told Rag’n’Bone Man about experiencing judgement from her family for not marrying and having children. “I really feel for women, because men don’t get that kind of pressure from their families,” he comments.

Rag’n’Bone Man’s latest studio album ‘Life By Misadventure’ soared to the top of the UK album charts on its release in May, holding a Top 10 position for 7 weeks. He has since delivered some hair-raising performances at both the BRIT Awards & Olympics Homecoming Concert in recent months.

Rag’n’Bone Man’s new music has been embraced across media with the Sunday Times declaring the record as “one of the albums of the year” and MOJO’s 4 star review noting “blossoming” songwriting. The album’s first three stellar singles ‘All You Ever Wanted’, ‘Anywhere Away From Here’ (with US superstar P!nk), and ‘Alone’, have also been mainstays on the Radio 1 & Radio 2 playlists, and he turned in all-star TV performances on Comic Relief, Later...with Jools Holland, The Jonathan Ross Show and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

After a truly special recent run of sold out intimate headline shows at London’s Jazz Café and a summer of outdoor shows and festivals, Rag’n’Bone Man is set to play the following UK tour dates later this year and European dates in Spring 2022. Tickets are on sale here.
