Yoke Lore releases his euphoric new single ‘Chin Up’ on March 29th through Yellhouse Records. New York indie pop project Yoke Lore is the solo musical venture of Adrian Galvin, previously of Yellerkin and Walk the Moon. The brand new track is taken from his forthcoming ‘Meditations EP’ set for release on May 31st. Listen to ‘Chin Up’ HERE

Speaking about ‘Chin Up’ Galvin explains, “This song is about fighting fire with love. My little brother was a huge pain in the ass growing up. He would throw these awful tantrums, and I would always want my parents to punish him and throw him in his room and ground him or something, but they never did. They always just tried to listen and comfort him. They told me all you can do in the face of anger is to hit it with compassion, which usually peels away the aggression to reveal a vulnerability. This song is not about my brother who, by the way, turned out very well-adjusted, but it is about the struggle of learning to tamper your reactivity and volatility. Learning to forgive at the drop of a hat. It's a skill I aspire to master.”

The accompanying video to ‘Chin Up’, shot in the depths of winter in Alaska, is sparse and bleak in comparison to the track’s joyous nature. Watch it HERE

Speaking about the video he explains, “This video is about a cycle of learning that we all go through. I paint a really tactile picture, but an allegory is only as strong as its commitment. We get thrown around by our relationships. We go through times of being taken care of and times of being mistreated, and even if we end up back where we started, we gain something along the way. Be that an awareness or a skill or an important memory, we always have the ability to grow from our movement, and each relationship offers us a beautiful opportunity to learn something new about ourselves.

Three years of non-stop touring (supporting acts like Bastille, LP, Frenship, Overcoats, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and Aquilo) and playing festivals worldwide (SXSW, The Great Escape, Field Trip, Billboard Hot 100) led to Yoke Lore’s first US headline tours, selling out shows all over the country. In 2019, Yoke Lore will make appearances at BottleRock Napa Valley, Firefly Festival (Dover) and Bushstock (London), following an east coast headline run and European dates with Highasakite. Today he also announces his debut UK headline shows in London, Manchester and Leeds in June 2019. Tickets on sale today for UK tour dates HERE.

After putting out three acclaimed EPs which gained him a loyal following— Far Shore (2016), Goodpain (2017), and Absolutes (2018) — 2019’s Meditations EP strips several of Galvin’s familiar songs to their core by trading the usual electronic elements for arrangements of piano, horns, and strings. In addition to these re-interpretations, listeners will also find two new studio songs on the new Meditations EP.

Yoke Lore layers the harmonies of Panda Bear, the soulful beats of M83, and the modern pop of Blackbird Blackbird to tell “the stories of how we are bound.” Galvin’s songs start with the folksy timbre of a banjo and add echoing waves of vocals and percussion to create unforgettable pop music with tactile sincerity and conviction. Since 2016, he has released 3 EP’s and a handful of singles, including a cover of Savage Garden’s “Truly Madly Deeply” that Taylor Swift added to her “Songs Taylor Loves” playlist.
