OUT MARCH 19TH VIA EMBASSY OF MUSIC
NEW EP ARRIVING EARLY SUMMER

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Charlotte OC makes a powerful return with her deeply personal new single, “God, We Tried”, out March 19th via Embassy of Music. Marking a new era and artistic direction, the track is the first glimpse of an upcoming EP set for release in early summer, one that sees Charlotte reclaiming her voice and artistry on her own terms.

A poignant and raw reflection on love, loss, and grief, “God, We Tried” was written in the aftermath of Charlotte’s father’s passing, during a period of emotional turbulence that saw her seeking solace in a relationship that ultimately wasn’t meant to last.

“This song is deeply personal to me, I started writing it after my dad passed away. In my grief, I ended up in a relationship that probably wasn’t the healthiest choice for me, and I wasn’t truly allowing myself to heal. If I think about it, all I wanted was a male figure in my life, to fill a void.

‘God, We Tried’ reflects the end of that relationship and the emotional complexity of trying to make something work when it really wasn’t right. It’s about love, loss, and the struggle to move forward while still processing deep grief.” – Charlotte OC

Speaking about the video Charlotte adds, “Shooting the artwork and video around my hometown of Blackburn was an incredibly meaningful and cathartic experience. I wanted to show some love to my hometown and all its facets that have shaped my identity, telling the story of how coming back here helped me regain clarity after the car crash of a time I had in London.”

“God, We Tried” marks the beginning of a fresh chapter for Charlotte, who steps into a more authentic version of herself both musically and visually.

Born to an Irish father and a half-Indian, half-Malawian mother, the Blackburn-raised artist has endured the highs and lows of the music industry, from being signed to a major label at 18 to carving out her own path after being dropped. Following years of personal and professional turmoil—including the loss of her father—she returned home, reclaiming both her identity and her music, resulting in what she calls her most authentic work to date.

Having spent years searching for solid ground, OC now stands on it with confidence. Her music—equal parts grit and grace—channels influences ranging from Patti Smith’s rock and roll spirit to Amy Winehouse’s unfiltered candor, all while maintaining a sound uniquely her own.

Charlotte OC has long been celebrated for her ability to craft emotionally charged, cinematic music. Previously signed to Harvest/Universal, she released two albums and built a devoted fanbase, earning acclaim for her darkly enchanting vocals and storytelling. Now, with a new home at Embassy of Music, she is ready to introduce audiences to a sound that is richer, bolder, and more personal than ever before.

With “God, We Tried” leading the way and her upcoming EP set to further explore themes of self-discovery, resilience, and emotional rebirth, Charlotte OC is back—this time, entirely on her own terms.
