London, 19 February - After shaking up 2024 with the euphoric electro-pop anthem “Everything Is Beautiful” and the stellar “Rodeo Romeo” and recent collaboration with Litany “Hello, Anxiety”, fast-rising UK artist Kai Bosch continues his mission to become “the biggest gay popstar in the universe” with the announcement of his highly anticipated EP ‘Popstar of Your Dreams’, set for release on April 16th. Leading the charge is his latest single ‘Angel’, a shimmering disco-infused heartbreak anthem.
On ‘Angel’, Kai takes a bold step into dancefloor-ready euphoria, delivering an irresistibly glamorous, emotional, and melodically rich track. Layered with pulsating synths, a soaring vocal performance, and an undeniable groove, the song is the latest testament to his ever-evolving artistry, one that fuses commercial pop hooks with avant-garde production.
“‘Angel’ is my crack at a disco-heartbreak anthem—I wanted to make a song that required a glitter ball and some flared trousers. And not to toot my own horn, but mission success in my opinion!
“To be blunt, ‘Angel’ is about thinking of someone else when you’re having sex. Shortly after my first breakup, I found myself in the thick of a rebound relationship. He was a lovely guy, and there was objectively nothing wrong with him, but I couldn’t help secretly yearning for the past. It’s about being with someone so kind, gentle, and perfect (an angel, if you will) yet still pining for something painful and ugly.
“When it came to finishing the EP with my friend Duncan Mills last summer, the rebound was long gone, and so were the lingering feelings I’d been having. It felt so freeing to finally let go, so much so that I wrote a last-minute middle eight letting it all go and not looking back. I’m happy to say we set a record for the highest note in Kai Bosch history—whether I am brave enough to recreate it live is another story…”
