After recently celebrating the ten-year anniversary of their platinum selling debut album ‘Wait For Me’ in 2017, and 15 years of gold selling second LP ‘Emergency’ earlier this year, The Pigeon Detectives have now returned to deliver the explosive new single “Lovers Come And Lovers Go”, their first piece of new material in seven years.

Produced by Rich Turvey (Blossoms, The Coral, Oscar Lang), “Lovers Come And Lovers Go” marks their first piece of new material since their highly-praised 2016 full-length ‘Broken Glances’, and sees them return with all the same bright and euphoric spirit they first emerged with. Rekindling their reputation for fresh and high-spirited indie-rock once again, their latest offering continues to cement them as one of the more beloved outfits on the UK scene today.

Speaking about the new release, they said, "This song encapsulates the raw energy and catchiness The Pigeon Detectives have built our reputation on, whilst evolving our sound to reflect where we are as people at this stage in our lives. It’s a celebration of everything the band were, are and hope to be in the future. Above all it’s a total banger that is guaranteed to get many a festival crowd bouncing like they’ve never bounced before!"

Feeling like a band reborn The Pigeon Detectives have never really gone away. After spending the last two years playing headline tours and festivals, the band saw a significant change in their audience, almost as if the raucous and up-tempo anthems they had been playing for years were the perfect antidote to two years of restrictions and mundanity.  Repeatedly, The Pigeon Detectives became the surprise highlight from festival line-ups for the people who had discovered them by accident or been out the loop in recent years; and an obvious must-see for those in the know.

Buoyed by the response at shows the band started writing music again. The goal was to capture the energy from gigs but also reflect where they’d come as a group of friends who have been in a band together since school, often working against misconceptions of their band and ultimately getting stronger as a unit and sharing this connection with their fans.

“Lovers Come And Lovers Go” is the first of the resulting recordings laid down in Liverpool with Rich Turvey (Blossoms / The Coral / Oscar Lang) in November 2022. The dawning of a new era for The Pigeon Detectives which directly communicates the high-octane feel of their live shows with punchy arrangements and sing-along melodies, alongside lyrics that reflect the maturity of a band with twenty years of friendship behind them.
