TWIN LIVE RESIDENCIES IN NEW YORK (13-15 NOV) & LONDON (26-29TH NOV) SOLD OUT IN A DAY

Following on from the release of lead singles “Loneliness” and “Honest Mistake” in recent months, Bear’s Den have now released their eagerly-awaited new EP ‘White Magnolias’, alongside the focus track “Imitation”.

Described as a companion piece to their previously unveiled collection ‘First Loves’, ‘White Magnolias’ looks to take a seldom seen approach to love and romance in popular songwriting: Adopting a more cynical but still hopeful take on modern relationships, the new offering heralds a bittersweet tenderness to their work, heightening some beautifully alluring prose throughout.

“White Magnolias really is a part 2 to First Loves” says lead songwriter Andrew Davie, “almost like an older version of the same person speaking in the first EP. On a songwriting level, I feel these are some of the most intimate songs I’ve ever written and though at times there is a bitterness there, I think overall it’s still a very hopeful and honest record.”

The new EP is showcased by the single “Imitation”, which channels the personal self-doubt and anxiety that can sometimes emerge at the start of a new relationship. Davie explains, “This song is exploring ideas around impostor syndrome, feeling like you’re posing or pretending to be someone rather than actually being someone. There is also a theme about masculinity and the inability to talk and how perhaps there’s some correlation between feeling like an impostor and not feeling able to share your vulnerabilities and weaknesses”.

To mark the release their previous EP ‘First Loves’ and ‘White Magnolias’ is now available together on yellow vinyl, as well as a special yellow and blue splatter version, available exclusively from bearsdenmusic.co.uk, which includes a numbered and signed alternative-art outer sleeve, made and shipped limited to order. Following the release of ‘White Magnolias’, Bear’s Den will be hosting live residencies in New York and London, both of which sold out in a day. Playing seven dates at both New York’s Public Records and London’s Union Chapel respectively.
