"Vickery’s buttery smooth vocals grab you at the first note and send you tumbling headfirst into a sultry soundscape filled with captivating lyricism. The raw, textured, and organic sound that characterised the R&B singer’s earlier releases and sets him apart from other artists on the scene is definitely here to stay." WONDERLAND

After delivering his highly-praised debut album ‘Songs That Made Me Feel’ last year, a release supported by the likes of BBC Radio 1/1 Xtra, Apple Music, Sirius XM, KCRW BILLBOARD, Wonderland, NOTION, Okay Player, CLASH, Earmilk, Under The Radar, Hip Hop DX and many more, a record that saw his crowned the rightly deserved moniker of the ‘male face of the UK’s R&B scene’ James Vickery has now returned to unveil his soulful new single ‘The Reason’.

Produced by the renowned Fred Cox, best known for his work with Rag'n'Bone Man, Grace Carter, Mabel, Raye, Anne-Marie, Wretch 32 and countless others, ‘The Reason’ sees the singer in renewed spirits off the back of his initial full-length. Honing in on his smooth and sultry voice that has already cemented him as one of the world’s most captivating artists, he offers up a tender and heartfelt croon synonymous with his powerful direction to date.

Adding about the new offering, he said, “After my album I was trying desperately to find something that made me feel something the way a lot of those songs did. I had an idea to recreate some of the most (in my opinion) romantic songs of all time. I can’t lie, 'Wonderful Tonight' by Eric Clapton and 'Movie' by Tom Misch were big inspirations for me. And with this Bedroom Soul/R&B sound I had to draw inspiration from the greatest to have done it, D’Angelo. 'The Reason' is about that stage with someone where it’s now become more than love, that nothing else matters anymore.”

James Vickery’s debut album ‘Songs That Made Me Feel’ features the Maths Time Joy-produced single ‘Somewhere, Out There’, Musiq Soulchild collaboration ‘Come To Me’, seductive offering ‘Hourglass’, the vibrant ‘You Comfort Me’ ft. EARTHGANG, and SG Lewis-produced gem ‘Finally’. James has since amassed over 100 million streams across his catalogue, most notably his COLORS session for 'Until Morning', which has garnered over 29 million views to date. Supported by BBC Radio 1/1 Xtra, Apple Music, Sirius XM and KCRW, his track 'Pressure Pt II' was voted in the top 10 songs of 2020 by Rolling Stone Magazine. He appeared on Sky News' Kay Burley show last year talking about his debut record and how being deaf in one ear affects his music.

Having headlined London's Lafayette last year and supported Sinead Harnett on her recent UK tour, James Vickery will also be supporting Sabrina Claudio on her UK and European tour dates later this Autumn.
