Lucy McWilliams delivers her shimmering new single 'Break My Own Heart', out August 24th
LISTEN TO ‘BREAK MY OWN HEART’ HERE
After recently returning to unveil the demos for ‘The Woman In Me’ and ‘Medication’ in the last few months, releases that saw support from Official Charts, Songwriting Magazine, Blogtheque, Record of the Day, Hot Press and Golden Plec to name a few, emerging Irish singer and songwriter Lucy McWilliams is back once again to deliver her shimmering new single ‘Break My Own Heart’.
Much like what we have been treated to ever since she first emerged, ‘Break My Own Heart’ offers up another heady dose of warm aesthetics and compelling songwriting, all laced together with her own captivating persona. Channeling the familiar insecurities we all feel within serious relationships, her light and lofty voice floats across vibrant dream-pop production, continuing her forward-thinking approach to date.
Speaking about the new release, Lucy said, “Break My Own Heart is about self-sabotage within a relationship; being scared of being close to someone so you intentionally push them away before they can cause heartbreak to you. It’s that fear of rejection and preparing yourself for the hurt before they can hurt you.”
Lucy McWilliams will also take to the stage at a number of festivals in her Irish homeland in the coming months. See her full list of live dates so far below.
Lucy McWilliams Upcoming shows

Lucy McWilliams is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Dublin, who went to University in Berlin, but now lives in London. Lucy has released a string of singles since 2020 which have amassed over 13 million streams on Spotify alone.
Since then, Lucy has spent 2021 and the beginning of 2022 honing her sound with friend and frequent collaborator, producer: Charlie Hugall. The result so far has been two demos released in May and June this year: “The Woman in Me” and “Medication” which both tapped into Lucy’s vulnerability as a writer. While “The Woman in Me” speaks to having different versions of yourself which you may not necessarily like, “Medication” is about the emotions accompanied with losing someone who struggled with their mental health issues. Lucy’s lack of fear to delve into difficult topics is what allows authenticity to shine through her artistry.
She has also spent the past year performing for audiences in London, Paris, Dublin and much more. Lucy ended 2021 supporting Arlo Parks at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and the first half of 2022 has seen her take stage at The Great Escape, Oberkampf Festival in Paris as well as recently playing back-to-back shows supporting Jake Isaac at Woolwich Works plus playing Ireland’s All Together Now Festival.
As 2022 moves into its final months of the year, we’ll see Lucy release more music with visuals to accompany these. She’ll also be performing at more festivals including Electric Picnic in Ireland in September as well as Irish Music Week in October as she looks to continue to grow her audience.
