"Won't you please make room in your Scandipop-loving heart for Sweden's Ellen Krauss? The 20-year-old's bold vocals reach impressive heights on Bali, an escapist bop about wanting to take another woman on a hot vacation. One day!”

After returning earlier this year with her stunning comeback singles ‘Shouldn’t I Just Let You Know?’ and ‘Tie Me Down’, her first pieces of new material since her platinum selling debut LP ‘Pearl’, Swedish singer-songwriter Ellen Krauss is now capping off her 2022 with the beautifully heartbreaking new offering ‘This Time Of Year’.

Inspired by the feeling of loss some feel during the festive period, ‘This Time Of Year’ looks to reflect those juxtaposed emotions into a wonderfully warm yet heartfelt swoon. Illustrated by a stunning new video, featuring Ellen’s good friend Hugo Hamlet as the lead, the new visuals hammer home the ache and pain Christmas can have on the more vulnerable, and perfectly projects the emotional message at the heart of this new song.

Speaking about the new single, Ellen said, "This Time Of Year is a story about feeling lost and rootless in a time where we’re expected to feel the most at home”.

"This Time Of Year is a song I wrote from my “aunts” perspective. She’s not really my aunt but she’s always been in my family because she no longer has a family of her own. Christmas is always a tough time for her as she’s reminded of those she’s lost and it’s all very moving to me."

While adding about the video, “This song has a special place in my heart, so putting out a music video that captures all that felt natural but at the same time very humbling. There’s so much in the Christmas aesthetic that speaks to me. It’s that extravaganza, neon thing but with some ugly rough edges and it just reminds me of how different the show we put on during Christmas is from the reality. I think we should all just look after one another during Christmas and lower our expectations to be honest. I am so happy with how it came together and I give all the cred to the actor Hugo and the amazing film team! Merry Christmas!”
