Essex-based Indie-rock band Low Lying Sun return with their euphoric new single 'Heaven Knows', out November 4th through BSW Music/LAB Records

After the enormous support for their critically-acclaimed debut EP ‘Hymn To Say Goodbye’ in April this year, which featured on BBC Introducing East’s Weekly Vibe and Spotify’s NMF (UK), New Noise, Hot New Bands, and Fresh Finds Rock playlists, as well as tastemakers CLASH, WONDERLAND and Record of the Day, Essex-based outfit Low Lying Sun now make their eagerly-awaited return as they deliver their euphoric new single ‘Heaven Knows’.

Bringing back more of that broad and triumphant indie-rock aesthetic they have been cultivating throughout the last year, ‘Heaven Knows’ stands as one of their more anthemic and atmospheric offerings to date. Filled with a rich and powerful texture that soars with frontman Micheal Hemmings’ mesmerising vocals, they have now embarked on the next bold step forward within their sound so far.

Speaking about the new release, they said, "Heaven Knows is about a question, a hypothetical. The song is epitomised with the line ‘Why did it end in love?’. It’s about running the scenario through in your head as to whether or not you should fully let something in when it rears its head again. You can either engage with it or not and both of those options are hard to take. If you just felt hate or anything less than love, then the decision would be easy but instead you are left with this dilemma"

Since the release of their initial EP, Low Lying Sun have been extremely busy on the UK’s live circuit as well. Headlining the Communion New Music Club Night in Margate, supporting The Natives on their recent UK tour, as well as joining Peach Fuzz, Low Hummer, and Daytime TV during their London shows, and making a festival appearance at Live At Leeds to name a few. The band have also been featured on the soundtrack to Made In Chelsea on three separate occasions.

Formed by frontman Michael Hemmings, guitarist Ross Connell, bassist Matt Chan, and drummer Noah Booth, Low Lying Sun’s music is lively and introspective, combining ambitious orchestrations, earnest storytelling, and an energy that feels at once both fresh and timeless.

Bringing inflections from both sides of the Atlantic, they carve their own brand of alternative music, far greater than the sum of its parts. Low Lying Sun’s lyrics escape present disaster and search through nostalgia. They invite listeners to rejoice in the time and love that they’ve wasted, providing a commentary of loss over the band’s ambitious instrumentation.

Signed to Jamie Scott & Colin Barlow’s BSW Music, releasing through partnership with LAB Records, the band have quickly cemented themselves throughout 2022 with their first EP ‘Hymn To Say Goodbye’, alongside countless high-profile live performances as well.
