LISTEN TO ‘BETTER VIEW’ HERE

Following up an impressive initial year in 2020, which saw her release the singles ‘A Delphian Lullaby’, ‘Faces’, and ‘The Algea’, all of which gathered support from the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, Under The Radar (21 for 2021), Earmilk, CLASH, Wonderland Magazine, NOTION, Refinery 29, and Record of the Day, not to mention her widely-acclaimed comeback cut ‘Coins For Charon’ earlier this year, emerging artist Chloe Rodgers is back on the grind once again as she unveils her light and uplifting new effort ‘Better View’.

Although Chloe’s style over the last few months has gone through quite the seismic change, this new release sees her develop a far more jazz-inspired direction. Swapping out her usual brand of pulsing and atmospheric alt-pop, ‘Better View’ sees her embark on a far more organic and groove-laden intention, creating a smooth and soulful croon that conjures comparisons to the likes of Etta James.

Speaking about the new single, Chloe said, "Better View is a tune I wrote a while back about how I imagine growing old with somebody to be. It really reminds me of this wonderful couple I know, Paul & Caz, who are just perfect for each other. I love the instrumentation in the song and am proud of everyone who played on it. It’s exciting to finally be releasing a song with happier, more upbeat vibes."

Alongside news of the new single, Chloe will also be busking her way across the country in a string of intimate and informal live performances.

Travelling to 18 cities throughout the summer, she will be using Britstops to stay overnight in each location, and will be the first opportunity for people to see Chloe perform live since the end of lockdown.

Speaking about the initiative, she said, "My first ever gig was a busking slot with ‘I’m Not From London’ in Notts and it helped to boost my confidence before getting booked at actual venues. I also used to do a lot of busking with my friend Mollie Ralph in 2018 too and ended up quitting my job for the summer because we were earning so much together. Fond memories! This summer is gonna bring lots more with the busking tour I’m about to go on, kicking off at Wembley Park for International Busking Day! I’ve never been to Wembley Park before, can’t wait. I’ll be in a Camper Van for the tour as well which I am so excited for as I have wanted one for ages!"

She will be kicking things off at London’s Wembley Park this Sunday 25th July as part of International Busking Day before venturing off throughout much of August. See the full list of busking dates and locations below. For more updates follow Chloe on Instagram.

Born and raised in Nottingham – a part of the United Kingdom that she still enjoys living in – Chloe is lucky enough to have the kind of disposition that makes you swoon at the impossibility of her existence within the confines of what it is to be a modern day pop star.

With influences that stretch from PJ Harvey to Billie Eilish, she notes Thom Yorke as her biggest inspiration, explaining “You know immediately that his lyrics have hidden depths,” she suggests, “but the deeper you dig, the further you are from getting to what they might mean.”

Chloe first came to public attention after accidentally winning Notts X Factor – she was interning at a local record label and was put up for an audition by her boss – which resulted in pecuniary financial advantage, a series of local gigs and a presence on YouTube that brought her to the attention of music producer and composer, Anders Källmark and Crowds And Power record label.

She was so effortlessly talented”, says Källmark, “that we thought she must be performing a series of covers. But she wasn’t!” Kallmark subsequently included her as the main vocal component in Twenty Committee, an innovative, contemporaneous project featuring a rotating cast of songwriters and performers bearing a loose resemblance – at least in conception - to that ever-elusive, 1980s abstract phenomenon known as This Mortal Coil. “Chloe is absolutely integral to Twenty Committee and puts her own spin on everything we do together,” adds Källmark.

With a string of future releases at the ready, Chloe Rodgers looks to have a bright solo career on the horizon. She is most definitely one to watch in 2021.
