"Chloe Rodgers takes a different approach to pop music... her otherworldly vocals opening up a portal to a fascinatingly serene new world." - REFINERY 29

"symphonic art pop" - UNDER THE RADAR

Following up the unveiling of her critically-praised singles ‘Better View’, ‘Bones’, (which recently topped the Hype Machine chart upon its release), and ‘Back To The Quay’, which BBC Introducing Nottingham’s Dean Jackson dubbed “a fantastic track”, emerging artist Chloe Rodgers has now delivered her highly-anticipated debut EP ‘Back To The Quay’, showcased by the new lead offering ‘Free Your Mind’.

While her earliest work saw her explore a more electronic aesthetic, ‘Back To The Quay’ has allowed Chloe to venture into a more organic territory, regularly swapping out synth-laced production for a more acoustic direction throughout. Elevating her distinctly lilting voice, this new material offers the next step in her powerful musical evolution, delivering more of that vivid and progressive sound from start to finish.

This new collection is also being showcased by the new single ‘Free Your Mind’, a perfect highlight of what we can expect on the new EP. With her beautifully rich vocals layered upon a light yet driven atmospheric bed, she sweeps and swoons her way through this new delight, transporting us to an ethereal soundscape filled with luxurious textures at every turn.

Speaking about the track , Chloe said, “’Free Your Mind’ is a happy song. It’s about staying positive and embracing change, how things evolve over time and we lose people in different ways but hold a piece of everyone we’ve ever loved with us. I wanted to dedicate it to my dad because of something difficult he’s had to go through recently. I couldn’t be happier with the way the track has turned out. Love the percussion in the chorus. I also love playing this track live as we change part of the song slightly to give it a different feel.”

In the build up to this new EP, Chloe Rogers was supported by the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, Under The Radar (21 for 2021), Earmilk, CLASH, Wonderland Magazine, NOTION, Refinery 29, Record of the Day and many more tastemakers.

Her new EP ‘Back To The Quay’ is available to stream from November 26th. See below for the collection’s full tracklist.

Born and raised in Nottingham – a part of the United Kingdom that she still enjoys living in – Chloe is lucky enough to have the kind of disposition that makes you swoon at the impossibility of her existence within the confines of what it is to be a modern day pop star.

With influences that stretch from PJ Harvey to Billie Eilish, she notes Thom Yorke as her biggest inspiration, explaining “You know immediately that his lyrics have hidden depths,” she suggests, “but the deeper you dig, the further you are from getting to what they might mean.”

Chloe first came to public attention after accidentally winning Notts X Factor – she was interning at a local record label and was put up for an audition by her boss – which resulted in pecuniary financial advantage, a series of local gigs and a presence on YouTube that brought her to the attention of music producer and composer, Anders Källmark and Crowds And Power record label.

She was so effortlessly talented”, says Källmark, “that we thought she must be performing a series of covers. But she wasn’t!” Kallmark subsequently included her as the main vocal component in Twenty Committee, an innovative, contemporaneous project featuring a rotating cast of songwriters and performers bearing a loose resemblance – at least in conception - to that ever-elusive, 1980s abstract phenomenon known as This Mortal Coil. “Chloe is absolutely integral to Twenty Committee and puts her own spin on everything we do together,” adds Källmark.

With a string of future releases at the ready, Chloe Rodgers looks to have a bright solo career on the horizon. She is most definitely one to watch.
