After gathering a huge amount of support for his recently unveiled single ‘ALL AWAY’ last month, emerging London-based French artist L.A. Rochelle is back once again to share the naked version of his latest effort

Stripping back the broad and euphoric production of the original, this new rendition of ‘ALL AWAY’ aims to focus more on the single’s raw and heartfelt lyrics. With an extremely modest and humbled sound, he is able to channel a more passionate aesthetic, highlighting the organic origins that first inspired the song.

Speaking about this new rendition, he said, "This song was originally written on electric guitar with nothing else but my vocals on top. I loved its rawness and vulnerability especially as it allowed the lyrics to shine. It emphasized how everyone is caught up in the same loop as me. One in which the ferocity of work can only be balanced by the extremities of raging hard. I want to bring back this original sentiment through a “Naked” version."

The L.A. Rochelle project and pseudonym was born from tragedy, as the artist escaped his flat in Paris where his best friend had taken the life of his other best friend. Both were his flatmates, and the pair were hiding a relationship due to one of the friends hiding their sexuality, driven to being so secretive for fear of judgement from their family.

‘ALL AWAY’ became a therapeutic aid to recovery in which to deal with the sorrow he was now suffering from. His upcoming new EP looks to illustrate the stages of grief that brought his world crumbling down, sharing the raw and intimate details of the denial he felt, through powerful songwriting and heartfelt emotion.

Dealing with immense trauma and grief, L.A. Rochelle immersed himself in his music – a process that redefined his perspective of love, friendship and loss. It was through his escape from his hometown, La Rochelle in France, to L.A., that the name that would later define his project came into being.

Having found his feet in the creative world with production credits for Tricky, recording vocals for synthpop duo Scratch Massive, and composing the soundtrack of a lost Lars Von Trier feature amongst other numerous fashion and artistic events, L.A. Rochelle aka Pierre-Andréas Berndt is now living in London. His forthcoming debut EP is the first in a series of releases about the stages of grief, 'ALL AWAY' is the starting point - denial.
