As a refined and passionate composer who has never looked to do things by halves, Polish-born but Berlin-based virtuoso Wojtek has now announced his plans for a new studio album ‘Atmosphere’, released on July 24th through The Orchard Artist Services, which will be completely carbon neutral.

Previewed by the incredibly dynamic lead single ‘Golden’, a release that looks to balance the idea of classical composition with modern technology, this new offering sees him experiment with both organic and electronic keys to create a bold and progressive work that resonates with the euphoric and ambitious endeavour that he has set himself.

Speaking about the new single, he said, "’Golden’ is the combination of two genres: club music and classical. It is a coupling of acoustic piano with synths - meaty, synthesizer sounds. In my head, this song is about gold on a black background and that’s probably my subconscious creating an analogy to the sound. The electronics create a dark background for acoustic instruments that, on the other hand, stand out as bright, shiny and colorful. Golden is a confident, strong and energetic track in which the piano is presented from two perspectives. It starts off with aggressive chords, taking you through rhythmic and melodic phrases and bringing you down to calm, quietness, thus reversing the inherent dynamics of the piano. I like playing this way - I can discharge my physical and artistic energy.”

“The song was composed over three days in my hometown of Tczew, Poland, but its structure and harmonies were constantly changing. I only really finalized the track over a year later just before going into the studio to record in London. Since then, it’s become a personal favorite.”

“The ‘Golden - Radio Edit’ is a bit of a teaser and it’s really the essence of the original version of Golden, which will come out on the album in July."

As an architect by profession, space and sound play an integral role in his music. Wojtek is passionate about the environment and hopes to inspire others towards being climate positive with the 'Atmosphere' album and project. The album was recorded at Baltic Studios in Hackney, as they use renewable energy to power the studio, and the album will be distributed digitally via streaming services and, to ensure that the energy used for that is also clean, Renewable Energy Certificates will also be purchased.

Speaking about the idea behind the new album, he said, "Each phase of music production generates carbon emissions into the atmosphere and I am fully aware of this. My mission was to write, record and produce a carbon neutral album. Fortunately, I was able to record Golden and the rest of the album in Baltic Studio in London - they use a renewable energy provider and therefore, I was able to ensure that fewer kilos of CO2 were released into the atmosphere."

In order to minimise usage of newly produced materials and instead reuse existing resources e.g. official music videos will be created from preexisting video footage instead of producing new ones. To achieve this, we turn to our music community for support and invite other creatives to partner with us on this cause - artists, labels, etc. and share with us their unused and/or existing video materials.

Wojtek's understanding of space and sound is audible in his songs. He approaches music with an intuitive reflection rarely found in a young artist. “Atmosphere” will sweep you along on a sonic journey, incorporating samples from the world around him, techno beats from Berlin basements and a spatial fluidity that defines Wojtek’s sound.

Winner of Headliners of Tomorrow competition 2018, his debut album ‘Instinct’ released with 1631 Recordings, a boutique Swedish label. The entire pressing of ‘Instinct’ sold out. Live, Wojtek has played over 50 concerts in Poland since late 2017, including Opener 2018, Copernicus Planetarium in Warsaw and many more.
